The Fire Queen | Review

So I absolutely LOVED the first book in this series, The Hundredth Queen. It completely took me by surprised and sucked me in, so I had some fairly high expectations forΒ The Fire Queen.Β Unfortunately,Β The Fire Queen just didn’t live up to those expectations.

Not that this was a bad book, but it felt a lot like the first one and most definitely didn’t have that spark of magic that made me read the first book in just a couple of days. I think with the main plot point having a tournament to decide Kali’s fate, yet again, was just a bit annoying.

Another thing I disliked about this book was it can be hard to sell me on a book with multiple points of view. And honestly, I just wanted to skip all the chapters from Devon’s POV.

And there may have been some insta-love that just felt forced to me.

Overall I did enjoy this book, and if you liked the first book, I do think you’ll find the follow up to be a good read, just maybe not as enthralling as the first.

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
